WENVOE Petanque Club have been crowned the Welsh Cup for Clubs Champions for 2017, beating Caerleon in a tense final.
In a tough competition in Cardiff on Sunday (March 5), the title was only confirmed in the last round of triples in the afternoon.
The morning event was played on the challenging piste at Pentwyn in the east of the capital, before the teams moved to Penylan to play the afternoon session in wet and windy condition at the Monkstone Petanque Club.
The victorious captain Bob Pugh stated: “Wenvoe Petanque Club thanks Tony Smith for preparing the pistes at Pentwyn, which were very challenging (in a good way) and providing the rings and scoreboards. Thanks also to the members and committee at Monkstone Petanque Club for their hospitality in the afternoon session.”
