Welsh-speaking volunteers needed to greet Urdd visitors

By Contributed Item in Local People

A team of Welsh speaking volunteers are wanted to act as Bridgend ambassadors to welcome visitors to this year’s Urdd National Eisteddfod in Pencoed from May 29 to June 3.

An estimated 90,000 visitors are expected to attend the event over six days at the Pencoed College Fields (Bridgend County Showground) and the ambassadors are required to give them the warmest possible welcome and provide details of Bridgend county borough’s culture, wildlife, history, arts and cuisine.

Those interested in volunteering will need to commit to two training days and then be available to volunteer for at least one, half-day session at the Urdd National Eisteddfod during Whitsun week in exchange for a full day pass to enjoy the festivities.

Training is free and is a time commitment of just two days in a workshop setting, exploring the treasures of the region.

The next set of training dates are Tuesday, April 25, Thursday, May 11 and Wednesday, May 24. Training will be conducted through the medium of Welsh, with support materials being offered in both Welsh and English.
