Llantwit Major RFC under-10s face off against Whitchurch

By GEM Community Correspondent in Rugby

Llantwit Major RFC under-10s side welcomed Whitchurch to their pitches on Sunday for a morning of rugby in the sunshine.

The team were keen to play well and put their training into match situations. The team played three mini matches of 10 minutes.

The Llantwit side started well and the players organised themselves well around the pitch, tackling well and passing the ball through the team.

As the game progressed Llantwit were able to break the try line twice and score two tries which saw them win the opening game 2-0.

Coach Mark Ingram was pleased but knew that there was more in the tank and wanted to see the players throw the ball around more and play expansive rugby.

The second game saw further improvement and the team were again able to move the ball around the team, work hard in the rucks and tackle well. This saw them through to be winners by three tries to nil.

However it was the final game that saw the Llantwit team really shine. The whole team made the ball do the work and they were able to create space and put many Llantwit players into space to score.

The Whitchurch team never gave up and they deserved the try that they scored towards the end of the last game. The final score for the game was 6-1.

Tries were scored throughout the morning by many players but coach Mark Ingram stressed that all the players contributed to every try by passing the ball well. Every player should be really pleased with their performance.

Try scorers: Ryan, Luke, Ieuan, Alex, Charlie.

Team: Abbie, Rees, Jack H, Luke, Rowan, Charlie, Alex, Reuben, Jack R, Liam, Ryan, Maison, Alfie, Ieuan.
