Leicester’s Restaurant at The Great House in Laleston, Bridgend has been voted the Hotel Restaurant of the Year for Wales for the second year in a row at The Food Awards Wales 2017.
The annual awards hosted by Creative Oceanic were announced at a glittering ceremony at Cardiff’s Marriott Hotel this week. These were the third annual Food Awards Wales and recognise the talent of food professionals in Wales.
Karen Glicker, general manager, said: “We were absolutely thrilled to win this award at last year’s ceremony so to win the Hotel Restaurant of the Year for a second year in a row is amazing and very humbling. We would like to say a big thank you to all of our customers for voting and to our fantastic hard working team.”
This certainly is an exciting time for Leicester’s Restaurant, as their head chef Tommy Heaney will be competing on this year’s Great British Menu on BBC2 very soon (from June 19).
Chef Heaney said: “It’s always nice for the team to receive accolades, we’re all very proud of what we do so it’s great to receive recognition for it. It’s been a great year so far and we have exciting plans in place for the near future, starting with a relaunch of the restaurant in July. We want to make Leicester’s a real dining experience.
“I wouldn’t say that my food is fine dining, so it’s very important that the restaurant reflects that; we want it to be a welcoming and relaxed.”
