Congratulations to Millie Wiggins of Rhoose Lifeguard Club on being selected for the Great Britain Youth Surf Lifesaving Team.
Millie secured one of only six places in the under-18s team despite being only 15 years old on the day of selection, and is one of only two athletes from Wales in the youth team.
She will now compete for Great Britain in September at the European Surf Lifesaving Championships in Ostend, Belgium.
Club captain Simon Parker said “Millie joins a long line of Rhoose club members that has represented GB at European and World championships, but she is probably the youngest to have gained international selection and this is an outstanding achievement.”
Steve Baker, Rhoose junior squad coach, stated: “We are extremely proud of Millie. She set herself a goal and through hard work and determination she has achieved it.
“It has been a pleasure to be one of the many coaches on her journey to get where she is today.”
The club wishes Millie good luck in September and will looks forward to following her progress at the European Championships.
